The
First Deadly Sin: Understanding the Astrology of Envy
Liz Greene
From late antiquity, envy has always been considered the most
destructive of human errors, and throughout history it has
also had astrological associations that are still relevant
today. Envy, as distinct from jealousy, has also been the subject
of psychoanalytic exploration and the theme of many works of
great literature. Yet as a collective we have little understanding
of it on individual and social levels, and astrologers often
fail to recognise that it is the root of many crises and conflicts
in relationships and the choices we make in terms of our future.
This seminar will explore envy in mythic, philosophical,
psychological and astrological contexts, in terms of its roots,
its corrosive but often covert destructiveness, and its potential
creativity as a signature of unrecognised individual values
and talents. Students are welcome to bring their own charts
on an OHP transparency
